70th Anniversary of Raftery Cup Finals Thursday 25th May 2017

The Raftery Cup Finals are being held this Thursday evening in Corofin GAA pitch, starting at 5.30 with the Raftery Cup & Shield final due to take place at 7pm approx.

It is the 70th anniversary of the cup first presented by John T Raftery in 1947. He could never have imagined at that time that the competition would be stronger than ever in 2017.
Each year the Corofin GAA club, with the help and cooperation of the national school principals and teachers, runs off the competition during the months of April and May. The schools involved are Annaghill, Ballinderry, Belclare, Castlehackett, Currandrum, Cummer and Sylane
On Thursday evening Ballinderry play Belclare in the 9 a-side final and Castlehackett meet Sylane in the 7-a-side final. In the 9-a-side Shield, Annaghill will play St Colman's, and Cummer 1 take on Currandrum in the 7-a-side Shield. Belclare and Ballinderry or Cummer 2 meet in the 7-a-side Plate, with Annaghill up against Ballinderry or Cummer 2 in an exhibition match.
Good luck to all ........ and remember it is the participation in the sport is what matters most !
